1 # BUENOS AIRES:
City of Buenos Aires...
"Cosmopolitan, sophisticated and amicable, Buenos Aires is the country's capital and its front door. Laying on the shores of the Río de la Plata, it is one of the most important cities in South America."
Buenos Aires is a city that seduces visitors and wins their hearts. Known as the "Queen of the Río de la Plata", it has an intense cultural life embracing tango, literature, theater, dance, music, gastronomic circuits, football (soccer) passion, shopping and a restless night-life. Buenos Aires is a city that never stops.
This city with more than 11 million inhabitants is the largest in the country. It features an artistic and cultural vanguard spirit (it was declared Design City by the UNESCO) with countless museums and art galleries, venue of international shows and festivals. Its typical "tango" nostalgia beats at its historical cafes, traditional neighborhoods, antique fairs and in the footprints of emblematic characters like Carlos Gardel, Evita or Borges.
Its academic offer goes beyond the great city. You can also study at the cities of the so-called "Great Buenos Aires", like Avellaneda, Florencio Varela, Lanús, Lomas de Zamora and Quilmes (Southern area); Caseros, José C. Paz, La Matanza, Merlo, Moreno, Morón, San Martín and San Miguel (Western area); Florida, San Fernando, San Isidro and Vicente López (Northern area).
- Climate: Annual mean temperature is 63°F. In summer, the maximum mean temperature is 75° F and in winter, it can reach 50°F. In the city, the weather is humid.
- Transportation: The city offers a subway network and several railway lines that connect it with the Great Buenos Aires' cities. There is also a good public bus service complemented by a good offer of taxis.
